In June 2008, GLOCAL JAPAN INC. purchased 25,966ha of farmland along the Paraguay River, about 40km south of Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay and GL South America S.A. was established to operate and manage this land in May 2013. It is managing livestock farming (breeding and fattening of 2,200 cattle). It is planning to grow beans and grains on its farmland. There is also a possibility of expanding to grow trees for biomass fuel as there is increasing demand for it as a means of recyclable energy resource.
